My first attempt at HDR photography.

HDR stands for High Dynamic Range. I went to FIU’s University Park Campus (where i work) this weekend and tried out the technique on a few locations. Essentially you take 3 or more photos with a tripod at different exposures holding everything else fixed, you then merge them in Photoshop using “merge to HDR” and then you play with exposure, etc until you achieve what you want.

It can be used to make shots more realistic or as I have done, it can give them a surreal feel. This photo is also an HDR photo but maintains the natural look. Beware, swaying trees are a problem. HDR only works on still life only, unless you are trying to create a surreal feeling.

I think I need to take some shots in low light situations to really get a great effect. I’ll try that next.

Well, yesterday’s ultrasound has confirmed that little Luc Merille is on his way. Its pretty hard to express in words what a new parent feels when looking at that little black and white display for the first time. I will say that it is a life changing event and one that puts your entire world in a new perspective.

Mom, or should I say Grandma now, was so ecstatic that she wrote a poem:

Baby Luc Merille is on is way
to meet his parents & stay.
His birth will brings us much joy
but most important he will be our boy !
So much love we feel each day,
waiting for his special day.
We all watch Luc grow
inside his Mommy’s womb.
We love him so much
can’t find ways to show him so.
September 12 is a special day
for all of us that wait & wait……
for our beloved Luc to come our way.

Niagra Falls

Photos of our last vacation are now up. We flew to Allentown then took a road trip to Niagra falls. On the way we had a campground adventure and ended up in the king jacuzzi suite at the Red Carpet Inn at 1am, don’t ask. At least I had some Magic Hat Beer. Its pretty good although a bit on the malty side which is not my preferred beer flavor.

Niagra Falls is very very cool. Everyone should see it. I would definitely go back and explore some more if the opportunity arises. Thanks to Conrad, Sue, Checka and Suzie for the great time. Not you Coral!!! Just kidding, We miss you and no thats not a shot of you in you bathing suit by the lake but it could be one day, so lay off the sweets.
